About Russ!

Hi! My name is Russ Denton. I’m 37 years old and Sheffield born and bred. I’ve been in the motor trade for around 15 years.

I started work in the trade as a Sales Executive at the Audi Dealership in Sheffield. I was fortunate enough to work for this fantastic prestige brand, where I was taught to look after customers properly. It was one of the Audi Pillars to offer fantastic service at all times and I really believe this put me in good stead for my career in the motor trade. This was a great time in my career as I felt very lucky to drive all of the Audi range in my early twenties (Audi photo below was circa 2009) as well as learn as much as possible from my colleagues and the brand.

Five years later I joined my dad in the family business at Chris Denton Car Sales and worked alongside him for nearly 10 years. This would be the hardest and most challenging part of my career as I learnt the ins and outs of running a business in the industry. Though I continued selling as I did at Audi, I quickly learned sales are only a small part of the industry. The start of the process – buying the cars – became the most important aspect of the business. You do this bit right and everything else follows.

So why am I not carrying on with the family business? Well, my dad decided it was time for him to hang up his dealing shoes, having been in the trade for 45 years… and to be honest, I fancied a new challenge. Sitting in an office all day dealing with the everyday challenges of being an independent motor dealer didn’t excite me and I fancied a new venture.

We Buy Your Car Sheffield was originally set up by my brother and myself as a tool to buy cars for us, but it took a backseat to the day-to-day running of the business. So, I decided to reinvest in the company, and really push to offer a different service to all the big companies out there.

I really do believe that we offer a better service than most, as everybody I deal with tells me of their low expectations in this particular part of the industry. Honesty and integrity are key to doing this job properly, and we strive to offer a fantastic service, making sure the customer has very little to do. Let me handle the work for you!

As well as having my phone on 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, here’s a little bit more about me! I have a young family and an amazing wife, so if you do give me a call at certain times of the day, you might hear a baby crying or a young child shouting “Dad!!”

I’m also a football fan – I do follow the blue side of the city so please don’t hold that against me if you’re a Blade or support one of the other teams in the area! On the odd occasion I have time, I enjoy road cycling and count myself very lucky that I have the Peak District on my doorstep. Fitness has become a big part of my life – I always set myself a yearly challenge, whether that be completing a half-marathon or a finishing a Tough Mudder.
